These are design principles that I try to live by. I believe that design makes the most impact when it's functional. Otherwise, it's just art. I try to guide each conversation with the user at the center, which only comes with deep empathy and understanding. And the solution we come up with needs to be innovative and delightful, or it won't turn many heads. My mission is to bring the highest level of value to my company, while keeping the integrity of the user forefront. If we don't solve the customer's pain, it won't be successful.
My journey into UX design is built on a foundation of advertising and marketing, where I honed the design skills that now serve me well in creating user-centered experiences. I've always been driven by a desire to help people, to solve their pain points, and to make their lives easier. This passion is what fuels my approach to design. My entrepreneurial spirit allows me to see the bigger picture, to understand the business objectives and product manager's intent, ensuring that my designs not only delight users but also align with strategic goals.
I'm not just aiming to create functional products; I want to craft memorable, iconic experiences that leave a lasting positive impact. Whether it's streamlining complex processes or simplifying everyday tasks, my goal is always to eliminate pain and increase delight in people's lives. Managed the Product Design team in a FinTech suite of products, including an Enterprise-level Payments SaaS (autoboard.io) and a consumer-facing mobile app (Portant.li). Led a team of 3 designers. I designed the product flow, site maps, wireframes and high-fidelity screens for a payments software start-up company. I also assisted in user research, creating a design system, and prototyping our products.

I have over a dozen years in the design industry. After attending BYU, I started my career in Marketing and Advertising, working for DISH. It took me a few years, but when I discovered UX, I couldn't look back. I was encapsulated by the thrill of solving actual problems and pain points. When I'm not working, I love spending time with my wife and three kids playing board games and taking walks when the weather is nice. I also love tennis, pickleball, volleyball, woodworking and the outdoors. I love creating, and entreprenuership is a passion of mine.

My cross-functional team of ten received a Circle of Excellence award, Capital One's highest honor, for the national release of Rebel, our internal underwriting tool. This marks our second such award in under a year, driven by the product's rave reviews and a 96-point increase in user NPS.
